Short version: KnowledgeVerse is a static website. We collect minimal data, don't sell your information, and respect your privacy completely.

1. Information We Collect

KnowledgeVerse is a static website hosted on GitHub Pages. We do not run a database or server-side code that collects personal information. The information we may collect is limited to:

  • Newsletter subscriptions: If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. This is the only personal data we actively solicit.
  • Usage analytics: We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools (such as Plausible Analytics) that collect anonymous, aggregated data about page visits. No personal identifiers are stored.
  • Browser storage: We use browser localStorage to remember your theme preference (dark/light mode) and cookie consent. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to any server.

2. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used exclusively to:

  • Send you newsletter updates if you have subscribed
  • Understand aggregate traffic patterns to improve content
  • Remember your preferences for a better reading experience

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond delivering the KnowledgeVerse service.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

KnowledgeVerse uses browser localStorage (not traditional cookies) to store:

  • kv-theme: Your preferred color theme (light or dark mode)
  • kv-cookie-accepted: Whether you've acknowledged our cookie notice

These values are stored entirely on your device. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or site data.

4. Third-Party Services

KnowledgeVerse may load resources from third-party services:

  • Google Fonts: We load fonts from Google's CDN. Google may collect data per their privacy policy.
  • Unsplash: Article cover images are loaded from Unsplash's CDN. No personal data is sent.
  • GitHub Pages: Our hosting provider. GitHub may log IP addresses per their privacy policy.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party for commercial purposes. Period. The only exceptions are:

  • When required by law or valid legal process
  • To protect our legal rights or the safety of users

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time via the link in any email

7. Data Security

Since KnowledgeVerse is a static website with no user accounts or server-side database, there is minimal attack surface for data breaches. Any newsletter data is handled by our email service provider with industry-standard security measures.

8. Children's Privacy

KnowledgeVerse is intended for general audiences and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Continued use of KnowledgeVerse after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
